SRSO INVESTIGATES HOMICIDE SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

Tequila Phillips was identified as a suspect and taken into custody by the Wetumpka Police Department.

Santa Rosa County, FL – The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active homicide investigation following the discovery of Allen Phillips, who was found deceased in his residence on 01/24/2025. His wife, Tequila Phillips, has been arrested by the Wetumpka, Alabama, Police Department and is currently awaiting extradition to Santa Rosa County

On January 24, 2025, Deputies responded to a welfare check at Allen Phillips’ residence after a family member expressed concern about his Allen’s safety. They had not heard from Allen for several days, which was unusual, and Allen’s wife, Tequila Phillips, had been evasive about Allen’s whereabouts.

Upon arriving at the residence, Deputies determined that forced entry was needed to complete a welfare check on Allen. Deputies forced entry into the residence and discovered Allen Phillips deceased inside. He was found in the later stages of decomposition with evidence of a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Evidence collected at the scene included a firearm and shell casing.

Following an investigation, Tequila Phillips was identified as a suspect and taken into custody by the Wetumpka Police Department. She is currently awaiting extradition hearings to return to Santa Rosa County to face charges in connection with Allen Phillips’ death.
