A woman shot in the back today at a home on Dale Place near Fort Walton Beach is expected to survive.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a shooting call shortly after 11 a.m.
The victim was reportedly in the process of moving out and had her back turned when she says 87 year old Robert Rice shot her without saying a word.
Rice is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He told deputies “I shot her” but did not express a motive.
The victim was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment.
