98 Crash Four transported to area hospitals

On 03/02/2024 11:26 AM, the Midway Fire District was dispatched to a high mechanism motor vehicle crash on Highway 98, in front of the Camping World RV dealership on Gulf Breeze Parkway.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A red S.U.V. traveling W/B was struck in the rear by a white van.  As a result of the collision, the red S.U.V.  overturned and entrapped it’s four occupants.  Truck 36 arrived on scene and began using their hydraulic extrication tools.  In addition, firefighters from Engines 35, 37 and Holley-Navarre E-41 assisted.  Lifeguard E.M.S. responded with two ambulances, along with an E.M.S supervisor and Dr. Landry.

All four patients were transported to area hospitals for treatment.  One person was declared a trauma alert.

The driver of the white van was turned over to law enforcement for further investigation. UPDATE: The driver was subsequently arrested and is being held in the Santa Rosa County jail charged with Fleeing , Eluding and vehicle theft.
