AIRLIFTED FROM OPAL BEACH

At 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, Escambia County Fire Rescue units E13 and L13 responded to a motor vehicle crash with extrication near Opal Beach along Highway 399 in Pensacola Beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Upon arrival, a vehicle was off the road in nearby sand dunes upside down with two people trapped inside. Within 22 minutes, the vehicle occupants were safely removed from the vehicle and airlifted to area hospitals. A third patient was transported via ambulance.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

Assistance was provided by Holley Navarre Fire District, Navarre Beach Fire Rescue, Chief 45 and Chief 46, and medical helicopter assistance from Walton and Okaloosa Counties.
