A man who initially refused to give Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies his name or date of birth is charged in connection with using a machete to attack another man after a dispute.
Family members finally gave the OCSO the name of 26-year old Yoni Chacon-Guerra of 931 Vincent Lane in Fort Walton Beach.
The victim, 42-year old Juan Arevalo says he went to Chacon-Guerra’s residence last night shortly before ten p.m. to talk about damage to Chacon-Guerra’s vehicle. Chacon-Guerra blamed Arevalo for the damage. Arevalo says Chacon –Guerra came out of his home holding a machete, hit him several times in the abdomen, and continued to strike him while he was on the ground.
Deputies say Arevalo had multiple lacerations to his chest and abdomen, as well as defensive wounds to his arms and hands. He was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment.
Chacon-Guerra is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer without violence.
