BRUSH FIRE ON NAVARRE BEACH

Brush fire on Navarre Beach? Not very often but it does happen.

Lightning started a small brush fire approximately 100’ x100’ late Thursday afternoon. The fire was about 1/4 mile off of Whitesands Blvd. Crews had to hike in with hand tools and portable extinguishers to extinguish the fire.

Holley-Navarre Fire District Station 45 were proactive and already staged heading South on Navarre Beach Causeway just in case we needed assistance, which we did for manpower.

Battalion 40 along with Santa Rosa Sheriffs deputy Matt Robinson assisted.

Although no structures were affected, quick knock down of the fire prevented spread into areas where endangered migratory birds are nesting.
