The agenda for the Commissioners meeting that will be held next week has a request from Commissioner Calkins to discuss solutions that could reduce the increased cost of electricity that people are having to deal with.
We asked Calkins how he plans to reduce the cost and he said ” I think that we could find a way to reduce the franchise fees that are charged to the citizen by one percent. ” Calkins added ” this would save everyone a combined total of $1.4 million a year.”
While a one percent reduction in your power bill is not a whole lot of money at least it is a start in the right direction from our County Commissioners to have a discussion and possibly arrive at a decision that could help out the citizens of Santa Rosa County.
