
On Monday ,June 7 Fire Chief Ronald D. Norton , Holley-Navarre Fire District held a press conference to make a statement concerning the drowning in Santa Rosa Sound. Below is the transcript from Chief Norton.
Call dispatched @ 1907 for a possible drowning @ 8671 Navarre Parkway with a child reported to be missing in the water.
Holley- Navarre Fire E45, E41 and BC40 responded. Automatic aid from Navarre Beach (Zodiac 49) and Midway Fire (Boat 35) were also dispatched.
E45 arrived at that location @ 1909.
Immediately organized a search and began from east to west, searching around and under all the inflatables.
E41 (arrived @ 1919) arrived and joined the search from the west and began searching along the shoreline, moving to the east.
At approximately 1926, it was reported that the child had been located on the western edge of the play area. In the vicinity of the yellow floating edge marker. To be clear – He was not in, on or under any of the inflatable obstacles which make up the play area.
Upon reaching the shore CPR was begun, PT was then transported to FWB MC in Navarre and from there airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where he was later pronounce deceased.
