Child in diaper trying to cross Eglin Pkwy alone

Kenneth Lopez Toledo

A three year old dressed in only a tank top, diaper, and boots was spotted trying to cross Eglin Parkway near Hughes Street around 11 p.m. November 26th, leading to a quick call to law enforcement and ultimately a child neglect charge against a Fort Walton Beach man.The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year old Kenneth Lopez Toledo of Kelly Avenue.
.
Toledo admitted he left the child at home sleeping while he went to pick up his wife at her place of employment.
When they got back to the apartment the little girl was missing.
Around the same time the Fort Walton Beach Police Department received a call from an employee at a Wendy’s approximately 700 feet away who was out with a small child trying to cross Eglin Parkway. Deputies say the temperature was 44 degrees when she was located.
Lopez Toledo says he didn’t want to wake the girl so left her at the residence; however he took another child, a two year old, with him when he left to pick up his wife at the Fort Walton Beach Walmart.
Navarre Newspaper reminds our readers that Kenneth Lopez Toledo is presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
