CRITICAL INJURY CRASH IN SRC

A collision at 1:35 a.m. this morning occurred on U.S. 90 (State Road 10) and County Road 197 (Chumuckla Highway), in Santa Rosa, Florida.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vehicle-01 (Sedan) was traveling in a northeastern manner in the inside lane on U.S. 90 (State Road 10), crossing the intersection of County Road 197 (Chumuckla Highway). Vehicle-02 (Sedan) was directly in front of V01, traveling northeast in the inside lane on U.S. 90 (State Road 10).

D01 failed to avoid a rear end collision. As a result, the front portion of V01 collided with the rear portion of V02. After the collision, V01 continued traveling in a southeastern manner. V01 proceeded to run off the roadway and into the southern shoulder, resulting in V01 colliding with the curb. V01 continued traveling in that direction until entering a retention pond.

V01 remained at final rest, facing southeast, partially submerged in the retention pond. The retention pond was south of U.S. 90 (State Road 10), east of County Road 197 (Chumuckla Highway). V02 came to a controlled stop in the outside lane on U.S. 90 (State Road 10), east of County Road 197 (Chumuckla Highway).

According to an independent witness, V01 was observed traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed and collided a moving vehicle (V02). The collision propelled V02 approximately 460 feet east.

D01, a 28 year old male from Norcross ,GA sustained critical injuries and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Escambia County. As of 05/04/22, 04:37 am CST, D01 was intubated. Next of kin for D01 was attempted by Georgia Highway patrol.

DO2, a 19 year old female from Pace , FL received minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt.
