On 05/19/2024 5:16 pm, Holley-Navarre Engine 41 was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Edgewood Drive and Bellingham Street.

Santa Rosa County E.C.C. received additional 911 calls reporting that someone was possibly entrapped.  The call was upgraded and Engines 45 and Battalion Chief 40 were dispatched.  Engine 41 arrived on scene and reported a multiple vehicle crash with heavy damage.

Life Care 3 was also dispatched, along with Midway Engine 37.  Capt. Daniel Tolar advised there were numerous patients, and additional E.M.S. units were requested.  Lifeguard E.M.S. advised that two of the patients were trauma alerts.

The most critical patient was transported to the East Bay Elementary School, where the helicopter had landed.  The other patients went by ground.

According to a witness, the white van was traveling N/B on Edgewood Drive and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Bellingham Street.  The driver of the black pickup, who was reportedly driving well above the posted 35 mph speed limit, struck the rear of the van.  One of these vehicles then struck a S/B vehicle, which was stopped at the intersection.

The van was propelled off the roadway and onto the lawn of a residence.  Prior to stopping, the van collided with a vehicle parked in the driveway.

The driver of the black pickup fled the scene, prior to the arrival of fire and E.M.S..  The male driver was subsequently located by a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper.  The driver was later transported to the Santa Rosa County Jail for processing.
