FHP PRESS RELEASE OF HIT AND RUN ON 98

We have just received an official press release from the Florida highway patrol pertaining to the accident this morning on Highway 98 and Brand Court in Navarre, Florida.

Vehicle one , a box truck was traveling westbound in the outside lane on US Highway 98, west of Brandt Court. Non-motorist was walking westbound in the bike lane area on US 98, West of Brand Court. The unknown driver of the vehicle one was traveling west and swerved onto the bike lane where the front area of the truck struck the non-motorist who was walking in the bike lane. Upon the arrival of Florida highway patrol at 5:56 a.m. the box truck had left the scene in a westbound direction of travel. The non-motorist a 50-year-old male of Navarre was transported to Fort Walton Beach hospital lifeguard EMS.

The non-motorist is listed in critical condition. No name has been released.

UPDATE: as of 4 PM we received a update from the Florida highway patrol.

As of around noon today, the pedestrian passed away from his injuries. We are looking for a white box truck with possibly no writing on the sides. Please direct any information to FHP or Crimestoppers.
