At 10:16 am today a fatal accident happened at US Hwy 98 and Ambassador Drive.
According to FHP report a sedan driven by a 60 year old female from Gulf Breeze was traveling east within the left turn lane US Highway 98 and had stopped within the paved median located at the intersection with Ambassador Drive.
A truck driven by a 54 year old male from Jay was traveling west within the inside travel lane of US Highway 98 and was approaching the intersection with Ambassador Drive.
The sedan attempted to make a left turn onto Ambassador Drive but failed to yield to the truck approaching thus causing the front portion of the truck to collide with the right side portion of the sedan.
After the collision the sedan and the truck slid in a northwesterly direction and entered the ditch.
The sedan ultimately came to final rest facing in a northerly direction within the ditch and the truck came to final rest facing in a westerly direction within the ditch. Both vehicles were still in contact at final rest.
The driver of the sedan did not survive the accident. The driver of the truck had no injuries.
Names of the drivers have been withheld by FHP.
