On 03/28/2024 9:49 PM, Midway Fire District was dispatched to the 2600 block of Settler’s Colony Blvd. for a residential structure fire.  A 911 caller advised that there was a fire in the garage of a single family home, with possible extension into the attic.

Acting Battalion Chief Rick Barberi arrived on scene and reported a working fire in the attic.  Crews entered the home and began pulling the ceilings in both the kitchen and living rooms to access the fire.  The ceiling in the garage had collapsed, along with the garage door.

Fortunately, the occupants of the home were alerted to the fire by a neighbor.  They were able to quickly escape and were uninjured.  There were working smoke detectors inside the home, however the smoke was contained in the attic until the fire intensified.

No injuries were reported.  Midway was assisted by Holley-Navarre Engine 41 and Pensacola Beach Engine 13.
