On February 15, 2024, a Santa Rosa County jury found John Patrick Guillebeau guilty of Second Degree Murder with a Firearm.
John Guillebeau is sixty-two years old and faces a minimum mandatory sentence of twenty-five years in state prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. The defendant is not eligible for any form of gain time or early release for the minimum mandatory portion of his sentence. John Guillebeau is tentatively scheduled for sentencing on April 29, 2024, in front of Circuit Judge Scott Duncan.
On November 14, 2021, law enforcement responded to the residence of Victor Trial in Navarre Beach, FL and found Mr. Trial deceased with a single gunshot wound to his back. Surveillance cameras and forensic evidence revealed that John Guillebeau had entered the apartment building at 12:58pm and fired a single shot at 1:01pm. The defendant left the scene and was apprehended several days later in Alabama.
The arrest and investigation were conducted by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Mark Alderman prosecuted the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida.
