Holley-Navarre firefighters recognized for their service.

 

The Holley-Navarre Fire District held its annual Christmas party and awards dinner Sunday, December 4 .

Chief Ron Norton presented the awards for Meritorious Service and the Firefighter of the Year.

 

Meritorious Service Award: The Meritorious Service Award is issued to fire district employees for meritorious service to the district in five-year increments.

 

Engineer Earner Harris was awarded a fifteen year commendation for outstanding support and commitment given to the Holley-Navarre Fire District. Engineer Harris has been serving the community since 2001.

 

Firefighter of the Year: This award is presented to a line firefighter who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, is an outstanding firefighter and person and provides service to the district above the normal level.

 

Firefighter of the Year for 2016: Engineer Johnny Robertson

 

Engineer Robertson is a veteran firefighter and while only having been with the HNFD for just over a year, has impacted the district significantly. Robertson inspires pride in ownership with vehicle maintenance and station upkeep. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty and has the knowledge as well as abilities to troubleshoot problems, get the necessary parts and complete minor repairs saving the District hundreds of dollars in vehicle maintenance costs.

Chief Norton also shared some statistical data for the year 2016 (January through November). For this period HNFD has answered 3,013 calls for service, averaging 8.9 calls per day or one every 2.6 hours. With this average, HNFD is poised to surpass 3,200 calls for 2016. Last year’s total was 3,122 total calls.
