On 8/5/2016 at approximately 2:15 pm, Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 8100 block of Navarre Beach in reference to the discovery of an unresponsive individual in the surf. Deputies and Navarre Fire Department immediately arrived on scene.
The deceased was identified as Thomas Edward Buss, DOB 8/12/54. At this time, we are working this case as a drowning. The 61 year old male, from out of state, was on vacation at the time of the incident.
Red flag conditions were present throughout most of the day.
