Today, just after 7:00 am, Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an address on Joyce Phillips Lane in Jay FL. The nature of the call was in reference to a home invasion. The suspect broke into the home through the front door and the resident shot the suspect.
Upon our arrival, it was determined the suspect was deceased. The suspect is an adult white male. The name of the deceased will be released pending family notification.
SRSO is working this case as a home invasion. Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene units are processing the scene and taking witness statements.

The deceased suspect in this case was identified as Gary Savoy Phillips, 38 years of age.
