Holiday Closures

  • The library system will close on Friday and Saturday Jan. 1-2 in observance of New Year’s Day.
  • The library system will close on Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

 

Story time

Santa Rosa County Libraries provide story time for 3 to 5 year old’s who are able to attend without a caregiver during the following times from Jan.19 through Feb. 26:

  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times.

 

 

Hopeful Hearts – Navarre Library

Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

A series of meetings for “Hopeful Hearts,” a bereavement support group, are held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. All materials are provided and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate.  The programs are held at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

 

Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library

Mondays 9 a.m. – noon

On Mondays from 9 a.m. until noon library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to give general genealogy research guidance; one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers; and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

 

Family Movie Favorites – Jay Library

Jan. 5, 5 p.m.

Meet at the Jay Library on the first Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. and enjoy a Family Movie Favorite. This month’s movie will capture your imagination in a theme park world of dinosaurs.  Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Ln.

Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D) – Pace Library

Jan. 9, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Come, Sit, Stay & Read with a furry friend in the Pace Library. Registration is required. The program is held on the second Saturday of each month at the Pace Library located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. Contact the Pace Library for more information or to sign up.

 

Friends of the Navarre Library Board Meeting – Jan.  11, 10:15 a.m.

Board meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 10:15 a.m. at the Navarre Library. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Annual Meeting – Jan. 11, 7p.m.

The Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library will hold their annual meeting in the meeting room at the Gulf Breeze Library on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. Attendees will be treated to special guest speaker, local historian Dr. Brian Rucker.  The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.

 

Movie Matinee – Navarre Library

Jan. 12, 2 p.m.

Join fellow movie lovers at the Navarre Library for a showing of a movie matinee. This month, enjoy a classic Alfred Hitchcock tale of mistaken identity, with an innocent man pursued across the United States by agents of a mysterious organization trying to prevent him from blocking their plan to smuggle out microfilm that contains government secrets. The films are shown at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, except during summer months. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

 

Friends of the Pace Library Board Meeting – Jan 12, 5:30 p.m.

Board meetings are held at the Pace Library at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month beginning in January.  The Pace Library is located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.mation.

           

Hospice Hour – Navarre Library

Jan. 13, 3:30 p.m.

A series of hospice programs are held at the Navarre Library. Melissa Tidwell of Emerald Coast Hospice explains how hospice and home health care services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice or home health care services might be beneficial. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Coffee Talk Non-Fiction Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library

Jan. 13, 6:30 p.m.

The January selection is “Ashley’s War: the Untold Story of a Team of Women Soldiers on the Special Ops Battlefield” by Gayle Tzemach Lemmon. Please speak to a staff member today about reserving your copy. The non-fiction book club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library study room.  The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.

 

Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library

Jan. 15, 10 a.m.         

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life. They can provide information about agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems.  This month’s topic is The Incredible Delectable Oyster. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.

 

Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale – Jan. 22 – 23

Shop for bargain books of all types and subjects, for all ages. Santa Rosa County Library Friends groups regularly hold book sales to raise funds for Santa Rosa Libraries, providing supplemental resources for library programs and activities and support for youth programs and special events throughout the year. The book sale will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. The hours are as follows:

  • Jan. 22, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Jan. 23, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

 

 

New Year’s Resolution Tree – Pace Library

The New Year is a time to celebrate fresh beginnings and start anew. Many do so by making resolutions. Visit the Pace Library during the month of January and add your resolution to the Resolution Tree. While you are there, check out the many resources that are available to assist you to keep those resolutions! The Pace Library is located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
