Today at approximately 1:00 pm, a School Resource Officer at Jay High School was notified by school staffof a bomb threat. Several additional deputies responded to the school to assist. The school was evacuated by school administration. Adjacent, Jay Elementary School was also evacuated as a precaution.
A text message was received by another student in which the sender advised of a bomb threat to the school. After a thorough investigation and within 30 minutes, a suspect was in custody.
The threat was unfounded and the individual who sent the text was discovered to be a student who was supposedly playing a joke.
The suspect is a juvenile. He was taken to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and booked on the following charges:
