K9 locates hiding place for narcotics

An attempt to hide cocaine in a magnetic pouch underneath a pickup truck didn’t work against the nose of an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office K9.

An OCSO deputy made a traffic stop on Legion Drive near Beach Drive in Destin February 5th.

A K9 team conducted a free air sniff around the truck and the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics.

A search of the interior didn’t turn up anything, but a check underneath the truck turned up a blue pouch attached to the frame holding crack cocaine, a glass smoking device with white residue, and multiple empty jeweler style bags.

37-year old Nicholas Thomas of Crestview is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of felony probation.
