Holiday Closures
All Santa Rosa County Libraries will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

Library Card Sign-up Month
September is Library Card Sign-up Month. If you don’t have a library card, now is a great time to come in and sign up. You’ll enjoy all the benefits and fun of using our wonderful library system!

Preschool Storytime
Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages three through five and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Programs start promptly at the assigned times; latecomers are not admitted.

First timer? Visit the library to meet the storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore the children’s area, and enjoy a tour of the library.

Storytime will be presented during the following times from September 18 through December 8:

  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
  • 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

Toddler Time – Navarre and Pace Libraries
Sept. 20, 27
Toddler Time is a program for children ages 18 to 36 months who attend with a caregiver. One child and one adult register together for songs, stories, rhymes, and other fun activities. The fall session begins Sept. 20 and is held on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. at the Navarre and Pace libraries. This 20-minute program lasts 6 weeks.

Toddler Time requires registration at the Navarre Library or Pace Library. Space is limited. It is not a drop-in program. Details are available at the participating libraries. You may call Youth Services Coordinator, Margaret Chatraw, at 981-4066 if you have any questions.

Refreshing Reads Book Club – Jay Library – 5259 Booker Ln.
Sept. 3, 3 p.m.
Enjoy an uplifting book club where one can talk about books in a spirit of fun and sharing. Refreshing Reads meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Jay Library. See a staff person to sign up. This month’s title is “The Charm Bracelet” by Viola Shipman.

Book Chat – Pace Library – 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
Sept. 6, 4 p.m.  
One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it. Join the conversation at the Pace Library on the first Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. This month’s selection is “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair” by Joel Dicker.  Registration is required.

Rock Painting – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Sept. 6, 6-7 p.m.
The Gulf Breeze Library is hosting rock painting for all ages lead by #MissMariaRocks. Space is limited; sign up is required. Supplies will be provided.

Friends of the Pace Library Fall Book Sale –  4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
Sept. 8, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sept. 9, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The FOPL are hosting a book sale inside the Pace Library. A variety of books will be available. This event is free and open to the public. Support your local Friends group. Visit the FOPL website at www.friendsofpacelibrary.org for additional information.

Friends of the Navarre Library Board Meeting – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Sept. 11, 10 a.m.

Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Board of Director’s Meeting – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Sept. 12, 5:30 p.m.

Coffee Talk Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Sept. 13, 6:30 p.m.
The non-fiction book club meets on the second Wednesday of every other month. This month the book club is discussing “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City” by Matthew Desmond. Registration is required.

Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Sept. 15, 10 a.m.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents “Butterflies & Butterfly Gardening” by Louise Biernesser & Annie McIlhenny, Florida Master Gardeners, at the Gulf Breeze Library.

Curiosity Day – Pace Library – 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
Sept. 16, 10 a.m.
The Pace Library invites you to join them for Curiosity Day in honor of Curious George. There will be stories and crafts. This event is for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Game Night – Jay Library – 5259 Booker Ln.
Sept. 19, 3-6 p.m.
Enjoy playing games? Bring games from home or play those provided by the library at 5259 Booker Ln. Game Night is open to all ages and game groups are welcome.

AniManga Club – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Sept. 19, 4 p.m.
Visit the Gulf Breeze Library on the third Tuesday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youth in grades six through eight. Registration not required.

Graphic Novel Book Club – Milton Library – 5541 Alabama St.
Sept. 19, 5 p.m.
Join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts at the Milton Library on the third Tuesday each month to discuss the book of the month. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month’s selection is “Filmish” by Edward Ross. Call or visit the library to sign up.

Artists & Authors Event – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Sept. 22, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Local authors and artisans will be staged throughout the library, sharing their talents, signing books and discussing their works. Some of the participants will have items available for purchase. We are honored to feature these local talents.

Fiction Fanatics Book Club – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Sept. 23, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Join the Fiction Fanatics for stimulating conversations about popular works of fiction, at 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of every month (except May and November). This month’s selection is “Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman. Registration required; speak to a staff member to reserve a copy.

Bibliobabblers Teen Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Sept. 26, 6 p.m.
Ninth through 12th graders who are 14-18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the Gulf Breeze Library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month. This month’s book is “Legend” by Marie Lu.
