Sometime during the day, a home on Chanteclaire Circle had been struck by lightning.  At the time of the lightning strike, the home was unoccupied.

Later, a family member stopped at the residence and noticed damage to the stucco next to the chimney.

As he entered the home, he could smell a strong odor of smoke. He then backed out and called 911.  Firefighters checked the attic and found charred wood, where the lightning had struck.

The crew used a water extinguisher to wet the area down.  Fortunately, the attic insulation had been sprayed with a flame retardant material, otherwise it would have been a far worse outcome.
