Mary Kitchens Road in Bagdad building under construction fire

On 07/29/2024 at 2:22 pm, Midway Engine 35 and Battalion 35 were dispatched to 6331 Mary Kitchens Road in Bagdad, in reference to a smoke condition on the 2nd floor of a building under construction.
First arriving units stretched a line to the 2nd floor and located the fire, which was in between the exterior wall and the spray foam insulation. Crews opened up the wall and ceiling to extinguish the fire.
The fire was quickly placed under control.  In addition, firefighters had to contend with high humidity, which made it feel like 102 degrees.  Two firefighters were over come by the heat, one was transported by Lifeguard E.M.S. and the other was rehydrated on scene with I.V. fluids.
Mutual aid to Bagdad  (Station 13) included Avalon Station 12, East Milton Station 15, Pace Station 21 and Skyline Station 22.  The Santa Rosa County C.E.R.T. responded and assisted with providing rehab. and refilling air bottles.
