On Friday the 14th, a vehicle crashed into Deputy Clark’s patrol car causing it to rollover on Hwy 98 coming to rest on the roof. Citizens attempted to open the door for Deputy Clark but were having difficulty. That’s when Samuel Davilmar ran to the vehicle and forced the door open with his bare hands, allowing Deputy Clark to escape from the vehicle. Deputy Clark referred to Samuel as “The human jaws of life.
Today, Sheriff Johnson presented the Citizens Merit Award to Samuel at his place of employment Winn Dixie. Accompanying him were his family members. This was a surprise to him as his supervisor called him in to work.
Samuel Davilmar was unselfish and his brave act will not be forgotten.
