Tonight the City Council of Milton voted to reject a requirement to wear masks in businesses of Milton.
Mayor of the City of Milton wrote, Good evening, Milton. The City Council voted unanimously to reject a requirement by the City of Milton that masks be worn in businesses in Milton. I listened carefully to the feedback tonight about the role of government and the limit of governmental authority, personal freedom, personal responsibility, respect for individual decision-making, the concern that businesses will lose the ground they are gaining because of resistance to the requirement, and the lack of perfect information on what actually works making it difficult to support the idea of requiring masks. I welcome the dialogue on how we can safely move through this crisis, and I continue to pray about how best I can serve my hometown. I am not perfect, but I will always do my best every day to be an honorable and trustworthy public servant. God bless our beautiful city!
