Educational event highlights the monarch butterfly migration through Northwest Florida. Tagging process part of research process by University of Kansas. Watch as hundreds of Monarch Butterflies are released into the wild for their annual migration to Mexico. The Garden Gate Nursery will have butterfly plants for sale, both nectar and host plants as well as caterpillar rearing “cages” and other butterfly or pollinator oriented garden items; the Santa Rosa 4-H Club will feature a science experiment booth for Volunteers appreciated.

Chow down on international foods such as Italian, Polish and Filipino. Enjoy live entertainment, dancing, bingo, a farmer’s market, children’s activities and a raffle of $3,000. On Saturday participate in a 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. Registration for the 5K is available at srolparish.org/fall-festival-1.

 

Taste of Gulf Breeze

Taste of Gulf Breeze is the opening event for the Gulf Breeze Community Expo weekend. Area restaurants and food and beverage providers will tempt you with culinary delights as you mingle through the exhibition areas. You be the judge as you sample free appetizers, beverages and desserts and determine the winners of the Golden Spatula Awards.

Admission is $5 and includes entry into the drawing for the Taste of Gulf Breeze basket giveaway.

 

8th Annual Run for the Reef 5K & 10K & Kid’s 1-Mile Fun Run

This race features an out-and-back course along scenic Gulf Boulevard. New this year is a 10K race. The event is a fundraiser to help “Make Navarre Snorkelicious” a benefit for the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary.

 

Pink Pirate’s Annual Pinktober Fest

Come out for a Pink time to this Breast Cancer Awareness Festival. Enjoy arts and crafts, food and live music at the Navarre Park.

 

Munson Community Heritage Festival

Krul Lake, Blackwater River State Forest

Blackwater River State Forest

Held at Krul Lake in the Munson, visitors learn about old-time ways through hands-on demonstrations. There is a Civil War reenactment camp, Native American displays, wood carving, basket weaving, making corn-shuck dolls, dulcimer making, shoe cobbling, cross-cut sawing, old-time circular sawmill operation, turpentining, displays by local museums and more. Cost is $5 per vehicle.

 

Sea Turtle Extravaganza

Sea Turtle Conservation Center

Participants will learn about sea turtles through games, crafts, jellyfish hat photos and tours of the center. The gift shop will be open. On hand will be Seamore, and visitors can meet Gigi the Loggerhead Sea Turtle.
