Navarre Beach Wheelchairs

At Thursday’s  Santa Rosa County Commissioner meeting, the board plans to approve the purchase of two beach wheelchairs for public use. The $2,698.20 needed to purchase the two wheelchairs will come from bed tax funds.

The wheelchairs feature four patented balloon wheels designed to roll over sand, dirt, snow and rocks. Other features include an umbrella and mesh bag and cushion.

The two beach wheelchairs will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the pier for free. Go inside Sandollars  gift shop to check-out for use.

Commissioner Rob Williamson stated ” This is another example of our communities commitment to improving access for everyone. I will continue to passionately support initiatives and projects that improve access for all visitors and residents to Santa Rosa County”.

Julie Morgan of the TDC hopes the wheelchairs will be ready for use by Memorial Day.
