October 25, 2022. At 12:56 a.m., the Holley-Navarre Fire District was alerted for a residential structure fire in the 2600 block of Salamanca Street. A 911 caller reported the home next door was on fire. All occupants had safely evacuated the structure.
The home was over 50% involved, with fire through the roof when the first fire crew arrived. The fire attack crews encountered a large amount of exploding ammunition and were withdrawn from the structure and completed the fire extinguishment from outside the building.
The 2,100 sq.ft. home is a total loss, sustaining major fire damage throughout. After interviewing the homeowner, it is believed, a candle was left burning in the back bedroom. Two pet cats were safely removed from the unburned portion of the home.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the occupants with lodging and other needs.
No injuries were reported.
Many thanks to our mutual aid partners Navarre Beach Fire, Midway Fire and Florosa Fire as well as the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and Lifeguard Ambulance Service for their assistance.
