SRSO is investigating an officer involved shooting that took place this afternoon around 1pm. The location is Bright Water Drive and Crosscreek Cir in Midway. The alleged suspect is deceased.
SRSO received an suspicious person call.Then the call was upgraded to a break-in before SRSO got there.When the first officer arrived the alleged suspect came out of the house and there is a confrontation the driveway and the deputy fatally shot the alleged suspect.
One deputy has been taken to the hospital due to injury. Bob Johnson is at the hospital now . The condition of the deputy has not been released but he was not shot.
FDLE has taken over the investigation.

UPDATE PRESS RELEASE SRSO
On 3/27/18 at approximately 12:50 p.m., Santa Rosa County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home in the 2000 block of Bright Water Drive in Gulf Breeze (Midway area). The nature of the call was in relation to a suspicious person.
While in route, the call was upgraded as the suspect broke in to the home. When the deputy arrived at the home, the suspect came out and physically confronted the deputy in the driveway.
During the confrontation, the suspect was shot. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was transported to a local area hospital for injuries.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading this investigation.
The Deputy is in good condition.
