Detectives with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office are currently working a death investigation. At this time, the death is believed to have been an accidental drowning.
On 8/22/21 at approximately 1:45 pm, Deputies responded to Blackwater River near Deaton Bridge for an unconscious male. EMS was first on scene. The victim was pronounced deceased before our arrival. Currently, there are no indications of foul play. Detectives are waiting autopsy results to rule out any underlying health factors. It is believed the victim unintentionally fell into the water while on the river.
The victim in this case was identified as Joseph Michael Rollo, 40-year-old male from Milton.
