The Pregnancy Resource Center of Navarre (PRC) was the recipient of a $2,000 check from the Pirates on the Panhandle prior to PRC’s board meeting on Tuesday evening, March 9th.   The Pirate’s had chosen PRC to be the beneficiary of their New Year’s Day Pirate Plunge this year; however, due to the concerns with COVID-19 and large crowds being a so-called super spreader, the Plunge was called off.

The Pregnancy Resource Center, located in Harvest Village, is a non-profit organization offering free pregnancy services to women, including pregnancy tests, Ultrasounds, counseling and information on adoption services to all women in need in the Navarre community.  They have a medical staff available to their clients and offer a friendly voice to those women in need of advice during this time in a woman’s life.

Also, as part of the Pirates first quarter donations, they will be a $500 sponsor of the 8th Annual Autism OdysSea at the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station on April 24th.  This event is exclusively for families with adults or children with special needs in our community.  It’s a one-of-a-kind experience of the ocean’s wonders, with sea-themed activities that include touch tanks, sensory stations, crafts, kayaking, fishing, animal encounters and more!   They will be showcasing their updated Discovery Depot, “Diana” the 40 ft. inflatable humpback whale, and kite flying for all to enjoy.  Lunch will be provided by the Rotary Club of Navarre, t-shirts and beach bags with their autism turtle logo will also be given to those in attendance.

The Pirates will also be a $300 sponsor for the St. Sylvester Catholic Church’s Annual Flag Day 5K Run Walk event held at the Church on June 12th.   This Annual Event is coordinated through the St. Sylvester Columbiettes and has assisted a variety of charities over the years.

With these donations the Pirates have now donated over $134,000 to 37 different organizations in the Navarre area since they were formed in May of 2009.  For more information about the Pirates on the Panhandle check out their website at www.PiratesOnThePanhandle.com.
