On 10-20-16 at approximately 5:30 pm, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a burglary in progress. The location was on Alahambra street in Navarre.
Deputies arrived along with a SRSO K-9 unit. A perimeter was established and K-9 began to track a suspect.
The suspect, Joshua James Cruz (12/21/88) ran from the home and attempted to conceal himself in a wooded area under a large pile of brush. When our K-9 located Cruz, he refused to cooperate to verbal commands. During the apprehension, Cruz struck our K-9 multiple times.
Cruz was arrested and transported to the Santa Rosa County Jail. Our K-9 was examined and was found to be in good shape. Cruz is being held on $41,000.00 bond.
Navarre Newspaper reminds it’s readers that Joshua James Cruz is presumed to be not guilty unless found guilty in a court of law.
