RAIDERS BASKETBALL

Story by

The Raider boys’ basketball team dropped a close one — 48-44 — at Milton. This was a district game, one which the Panthers may have swiped a higher seed in the playoff bracket ahead of Navarre.

Navarre had a one point lead, and the ball, with 32 seconds left in the game. Things didn’t go the Raiders’ way in those closing moments, including a breakaway dunk by Kemontre Current in the final seconds. Current lead all scorers with 17 points.

Jayven Streeter and Tim Brewer had nine apiece to lead Navarre’s scoring. As a team, they shot nine-of-19 from the free-throw line and sank just a single three-pointer. And they had a nine-point lead at halftime.

They’re now 8-7 — losing two in a row — for the season and just two regular games remain before the post season.

Milton ended a four-game losing streak with the victory, but they are 6-11 with a make-up game against Pace tomorrow and three more slated for next week.
