RAWLS SENTENCED 30 MORE YEARS

(Santa Rosa County, FL) Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, announces that on January 19, 2024, a Santa Rosa County jury found Terry Rawls guilty of Aggravated Battery on Victim 65 years of Age or Older with Great Bodily Harm. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On June 6, 2019, Rawls attacked a prison counselor, choking her and causing her to break her left leg. Rawls was serving a prison sentence for a Burglary and Sexual Battery he committed in Hardee County, Florida. 

Based on Rawl’s criminal history he was sentenced pursuant to the Prison Releasee Reoffender guidelines. The Honorable Clifton Drake sentenced Rawls to 30 years in the Department of Corrections consecutive to the sentence he was already serving. 

The investigation was conducted by the Office of Inspector General. The Assistant State Attorney Kari Garrett prosecuted the case.
