SAND SCULPTING AND DINNER CANCELLED

In a turn of events the plan to hold a joint Sand Sculpting event and a fund raising dinner in 2016 has been stopped by the TDC Board and the Director of Economic Development for the County in yesterday’s meeting. The reason was not due to the cost of the event but because the beach re-nourishment would be going on during this time.

There was a lot of push back not only from residents over the expense of 55,000 to pay for this event but from the Chamber who did not have the resources to run the event due to Taste of Navarre and Fun Fest happening near the same time.

The high expense of the Sand Sculpting event was the reason that Navarre did not have one in 2014.

It is uncertain if the Sand Sculpting Event will ever return to Navarre.

The real looser in all of this will be the Marine Science Station who would have received money from the fund raising dinner which was going to be put on by Pirates of the Panhandle.
