SHOOTING IN HBTS

About one hour ago there was a shooting at a residence in HBTS.

One person is in custody and one person is in route to the hospital.

The incident happened on Valley Road.

SRSO is on the scene and we are awaiting more information.

UPDATE:

On 10-30-15 at approximately 8:45 pm, Deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at the 2200 block of Valley Road in Navarre.

 

Upon SRSO arrival, it was determined there were several individuals inside a residence when the suspect fired multiple shots inside the home. One of the individuals was shot.

 

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is in critical condition. John Marshall Fitzgerald, 59 was taken into custody and is at the Santa Rosa Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and crimes against a person. No bail has been set.

 

This case is still under investigation.

The charge is Aggravated assault with a weapon and Attempted Murder.

The victim is still listed in critical condition. The gun used was recovered inside the front door of the resident where this crime occurred.

Navarre Newspaper would like to remind you that John Marshall Fitzgerald is presumed to be innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

UPDATE: SRSO has just identified the victim as Nelson Rivers Starkey age 22. Nelson is still in critical condition.

We also can now report that his parents are by his bedside. Nelson has lived in Florence, Alabame all of his life and is a student at Unv. of Alabama.
