On 3/19/2023 at approximately 9:30 pm, our deputies responded to a reported shooting at the 7700 block of Navarre Parkway.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male dead as a result of the shooting. The male has been identified as 24-year-old, Colby Vinson.
This case was then investigated by our Major Crimes unit, who worked diligently to find any suspects responsible for the death of Mr. Vinson. After continued investigation efforts, our deputies sought a warrant that resulted in the arrest of a man in Alabama.
Jason Layne Curtis, 53 years old, has been arrested for First degree Premeditated Murder. This is still an active ongoing investigation.
Navarre Newspaper reminds our readers that Jason Layne Curtis is presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
