We paid our respects early Friday morning and had a chance to talk with Doc who volunteers his time to transport the wall all over the country from March thru February. This is his 16th year and the chance to visit the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is already booked for the next two years. When we arrived this morning Doc and an assistant were carefully dusting off the entire wall. You could see the love and respect both men had taken to make sure the wall was looking it’s best.

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is at The American Legion , 1850 Luneta Street in Navarre . Open to the public from Friday , September 30 thru Sunday , Oct 2. Hours open are 24 hours each day.

On Oct 1 another event will take place by American Legion Riders 2nd Annual Challenge 22 event that will be held at the Navarre Park on October 1 beginning at 9 a.m.

This is a national grassroots effort to raise awareness and funds for organizations to meet the mental health needs of veterans, retired, active duty and contractors of our military who struggle with suicide during or after military service. Statistically, 22 veterans commit suicide daily, sadly that number has risen to 27, and we want to do everything we can to bring that statistic to zero. The Florida Panhandle is the #3 bedroom community location for veterans in the United States after they’ve completed military service behind the entire states of Texas and California.
A 911 tribute has also been added as of this year.
