Potential game changing news for Highway 98.
I had the opportunity to meet briefly with DOT District 3 Secretary Barfield during the Gulf Power Economic Symposium this week and continued to stress the importance of the community access road for Navarre and the immediate need for Highway 98 relief. We have been pushing to have Highway 98 designated as a SIS roadway in Florida. Strategic Intermodal System designated roadways, or SIS, currently receive 50% of all new road funding and there is discussion in the Florida legislature to increase that amount to 75%. For Highway 98 to gain this designation would mean funding for much needed capacity improvements could come in half the time. Keep your fingers crossed we can get this across the finish line.
