A press conference just wrapped up with some bad news.
The Five Mile swamp fire has burned 2,000 acres so far. Winds from the North are hindering fire fighters. The fire is 20% contained according to the Florida Forest Service.
12 structures have been destroyed or badly damaged. No life has been lost. The evacuation order will run until noon Thursday. 18 tractor units are helping to fight the fire.
1,100 residents have been asked to evacuate. Power is also out in surrounding areas There are 900 homes in Milton without power.
All westbound traffic i from I-10 is being re-routed to Hwy 87 Southbound. East bound traffic is exiting at Avalon Blvd.
