An argument over a shaving kit led a man to stab his roommate in the ribs with a kitchen knife. 45-year old David Devane Rutherford is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 729 Bradford Drive in Fort Walton Beach around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday
The victim, 47-year old Thomas Hensley, says he was looking for his missing shaving kit and found it in Rutherford’s bedroom. He confronted Rutherford and the pair got into an argument. Rutherford had a kitchen knife in his hand and lunged forward, stabbing Hensley in the ribs. Hensley was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with what appeared to be a non-life- threatening injury.

Deputies meantime found Rutherford in the backyard on his hands and knees next to a fence and bush. He said he was hiding because he thought he had warrants. Rutherford also said the stabbing was an “accident” and that he had cleaned the blood off the knife and hidden it in a kitchen drawer.
