Thursday August 31st 2017 started out as just like any other day, other than the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and early warnings of yet another Hurricane (Irma) looming out in the Atlantic. Gulf and ocean waters hovering in the high 80’s, perfect for storm peculation.
But while most of us were watching the news and praying for our neighbors in Texas, one little boy was about to have his and his family’s life change for the better!
Gabe is a handsome curious little 9 year old that is affected by Autism, particularly the nonverbal aspect of it.
Yesterday From My Heart to Yours provided Gabe a mini iPad and an iTunes card that will be used to purchase a nonverbal app (PECS) that will be integrated on the iPad. He also will have the support of Beyond Expectations (of Fort Walton Beach) staff, to help him and his family learn together how to use these tools to begin communicating, which they have yet to experience. Gabe will be able for the first time in 9 years, to say to his Dad and grandma, I’m hungry, I want to go outside and play, My tummy hurts, I love you! Can you imagine?
