Charged with domestic violence aggravated battery

arrested
Nicholas Ian Fuentes

A witness to a domestic violence incident on the Marler Bridge says he saw a Ford Explorer in front of him slow down Monday afternoon, the passenger door open, and a woman appear to roll out of the vehicle onto the bridge. As the witness called law enforcement, the driver of the Explorer fled.

The victim says she and her boyfriend, 26-year old Nicholas Ian Fuentes, were heading east over the bridge when he hit her in the face multiple times. As she tried to get out of the SUV, she says Fuentes pushed her, causing her to land on the concrete.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies say the 51-year old victim suffered a bloody nose, bloody mouth, and a cut on her leg which required eleven stitches. Doctors say the injury to her nose will require a later surgery.

She was treated at Sacred Heart Hospital in Walton County.

When an OCSO deputy later made contact with Fuentes at his home on Evergreen Drive, Fuentas tried to close the front door on him. Fuentas was tased, but ran through the home and tried to climb over a fence in the backyard, where he was taken into custody.

Fuentas was found to be on pre-trial release from a previous arrest for domestic violence related battery with the same victim in May and was to have no contact with her.

He is now charged with domestic violence aggravated battery, obstructing a court order with violation of pre-trial release, and resisting arrest.
