Charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon

A Crestview man has been charged with 2nd degree murder following a fatal shooting that occurred at a home on Jay Street in Fort Walton Beach early Saturday morning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Deputies responded to the home and found the 34-year old male victim on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital but later died.

27-year old Richard Scott Holovak was developed as a suspect and located at his home on Bobolink Way in Crestview. Holovak admitted to traveling to the Jay Street location after being notified of an argument occurring at the home. He claimed that upon arrival, he entered the residence where he brandished the firearm in an attempt to scare the victim. He stated that the victim aggressed him and he then shot the victim one time in the torso. There is no evidence the victim was armed with a weapon.

Holovak was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
