Chief Ron Norton presented the awards

The Holley-Navarre Fire District held their annual end of the year and awards dinner Friday evening December 18 at the Club at Hidden Creek. The District recognized many of its members for achieving milestones in their career. Chief Ron Norton presented the awards for Meritorious Service and the Firefighter of the Year.

 

Chief Norton also shared some statistical data for the year 2015 (January through November). For this period HNFD has answered 2854 calls for service, averaging 8.8 calls per day or one every 2.7 hours. With this average, HNFD is poised to easily surpass 3000 calls for the year 2015.

 

Meritorious Service Award: The Meritorious Service Award is issued to fire district employees for meritorious service to the district in five-year increments.

 

These firefighters were awarded a five year commendation for meritorious service.

Firefighter of the Year: This award is presented to a line firefighter who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, is an outstanding firefighter and person and provides service to the district above the normal level.

 

The Firefighter of the Year for 2015 – Engineer Earner Harris.

 

Engineer Harris is a veteran firefighter who never misses an opportunity to train, especially with newer firefighters. From station tours to community events his enthusiasm for the job clearly evident and contagious. He sets the example and is well known throughout the Santa Rosa County fire community as an outstanding firefighter and person.  Harris is also a member of the Santa Rosa County Firefighter Association Honor Guard.
