Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners is honoring National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 15 through 21, and presented the men and women of Lifeguard Ambulance Service with a proclamation at their May 9 committee meeting to ensure their important contributions in safeguarding our county’s health, safety and well-being are fully recognized.
Lifeguard Ambulance Service has provided unsubsidized EMS services for Santa Rosa County since August 2007. In honor of both EMS week and the county’s week-long PrepareAthon!, the public is invited to tour Lifeguard’s facility during their open house on Thursday, May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m., at 4340 Avalon Blvd. in Milton.
“We have the utmost respect for the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s front line,” said Santa Rosa County Emergency Management Director Brad Baker. “Given the challenges facing our nation’s healthcare system and the rapid pace of change, ensuring the public understands what the EMS practitioners at Lifeguard have to offer us has never been more important.”
Emergency medical responders save lives by providing both basic and advanced medical care at the scene of an emergency and en route to a hospital. They show compassion to their patients in their most difficult moments. “EMS Strong: Called to Care” is certainly a fitting theme of EMS Week 2016.
