
Love Your Library Month
Love your Library Month is celebrated during February in libraries nationwide. This is a great time to recognize the important role libraries play in the cultural and economic success of local communities and the nation. Visit your local library in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre, and Pace to let us know what you love about your library. We invite the community to join us in celebrating all of the wonderful things you can do in the library.
Tax Aide
Volunteers from AARP Tax-Aide will be assisting with taxes at three Santa Rosa County libraries beginning in February and continuing through April 15. The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Patrons are served on a first come–first served basis. Pre-registration is not accepted and space is limited, so arrive early! Storytime
Santa Rosa County Libraries providestorytime for 3 to 5 year olds who are able to attend without a caregiver during the following times from Jan. 19 through Feb. 26:
- 11 – 11:30 a.m.on Mondays at the Jay Library
- 11 – 11:30 a.m.on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
- 11:15 – 11:45 a.m.on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
- 11:15 – 11:45 a.m.on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
- 11 – 11:30 a.m.on Fridays at the Pace Library

Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library
Mondays, 9 a.m. – noon
On Mondays from 9 a.m. until noon, library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to give general genealogy research guidance; one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers; and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.
Friends of the Navarre Library Board Meeting – Feb. 1, Noon
Board meetings are typically held on the second Monday of each month at 10:15 a.m.at the Navarre Library. Please note the date change for this month. The Board will meet on Feb. 1 at noon. Family Movie Favorites – Jay Library
Feb. 2, 5 p.m.
Meet at the Jay Library on the first Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. and enjoy a Family Movie Favorite. Everything is AWESOME in this month’s Family Movie Favorite where Emmet joins a mission to stop an evil tyrant’s plans to conquer the world. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times. Relaxing With Coloring – Gulf Breeze Library
Feb. 5, 10 – 11 a.m.
Looking for a way to reduce some stress, relax, and release your creativity? Join us for an hour of morning of fun on the first Friday of every month at 10 a.m. Coloring is for the young and the young at heart. This program is free and open to adults 18 and older. Advance registration is not required. Supplies and coffee are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Movie Matinee – Navarre Library
Feb. 9, 2 p.m.
Join fellow movie lovers at the Navarre Library at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. This month’s matinee is about an aging silent film queen who refuses to accept that her stardom has ended and hires a young screenwriter to help set up her movie comeback. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

MakerSpace – Pace Library

A MakerSpace is a place where creative people can gather, create, invent, and learn. Debbie del Tejo will lead an imaginative MakerSpace workshop at the Pace Library. This workshop is free and open to patrons who are in the 6th – 12th grades. This month’s creation is Repurposing Things into Beautiful Valentines. All supplies are provided. Friends of the Pace Library Book Sale – Feb. 11 – 13
The Friends of the Pace Library will hold a book sale Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 11 through 13 at the First United Methodist Church of Pace located at 4540 Chumuckla Hwy. in Pace. A preview sale is being held on Thursday, Feb. 11 for members of the Friends group and educators only. The hours are as follows: preview sale Feb. 11, 2 – 6 p.m.; Friday Feb. 12, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. A variety of books will be available. This event is free and open to the public. Support your local Friends group and consider becoming a member.
Page Turners Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library

Join us in the Gulf Breeze Library study room for our fiction book club. Page Turners meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every other month. This month’s selection is“Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck. There is a limit of 20 participants, so please call the library or drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member today about reserving your copy! Bereavement Support – Navarre Library
Feb. 12 and 26, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
A series of meetings are held at the Navarre Library on the second and fourth Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving the loss of a loved one. All materials are provided and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment on the third Monday of each month. The Animation Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. Bring your art, discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga art, as well as your favorite title and artists in those genres. The Animation Club is open to youth in grades 6 – 8. Hospice Hour – Navarre Library
Feb. 17, 10 a.m.
A monthly series of hospice programs are held at the Navarre Library. Melissa Tidwell of Emerald Coast Hospice explains how hospice and home health care services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice or home health care services might be beneficial. Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library
Feb. 19, 10 a.m.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life. They can provide information about agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems. This month’s topic is Spring Lawn Care. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Bibliobabblers Teen Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library
Feb. 23, 6 p.m.
Teens in 9-12th grade who are 14-18 years old can take a break from homework and school to hangout and discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. This month’s book is “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.
