
Ronica Jane Hitt was located last night at approximately 10:30 pm in El Paso Texas. Extensive resources, including multiple
On 4-25-16, Hitt sent several threatening text messages to a family member from her own cell phone claiming to be someone else. The text messages included “Have fun finding ur daughter alive”, “Hope you know she will die that’s a promise” and “If I can’t have her, no one can”. There were also indications her body was placed into the trunk of a vehicle. Attempts to call Hittscell phone, among other investigative resources were met with negative results.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office began an extensive search for Hitt and her husband, Caleb Phillips. Resources included several different State and Federal agencies from Florida through Texas. The vehicle was located last night in El Paso Texas by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Due to the seriousness of the allegations, a felony traffic stop was initiated where the occupants were taken out of the vehicle at gunpoint. During a roadside interview, Hittadmitted to intentionally sending the threatening messages to her mother when in actuality, she was unharmed.
At this time, Investigators are reviewing this case for possible charges from both state and or federal level.Florida Statute states “Written threats to kill or to do bodily injury to someone is a second degree felony.(FSS 836.10)”.
