A Crestview man who was the subject of four and a half hour search today after violating a domestic violence injunction and resisting arrest was ultimately taken into custody on numerous charges.
25-year old Zachary Packard violated a Domestic Violence Injunction by being outside the petitioner’s residence this morning on Old Hickory Road north of Crestview. Although Packard is prohibited from having any contact with the victim or coming within 500 feet of her home, he was found asleep in his truck in her driveway, and an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted suspected methamphetamine in plain view on the truck’s center console.

While attempting to arrest Packard, he pulled away from the deputy and ran. A perimeter was quickly established and three OCSO K9’s were called to the scene for a track after multiple sightings. Packard later entered a backyard of a home and stole a child’s bicycle. Deputies then spotted him riding on Stephens Lane. He refused to stop but was taken into custody after crashing into a fence and trying to run through back yards. During a search after his capture, Packard was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.
Due to the teamwork and efforts of OCSO responders from multiple units, Packard is now charged with violation of a domestic violence injunction, fleeing and eluding, possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, felony theft and more.
During the search, three OCSO K9 teams combined to do multiple tracks over a nearly four hour period, covering approximately 3.5 miles.

Navarre Newspaper reminds our readers that Zachary Packard is presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
